A native of Illinois, Mr. Stearns entered the field of banking after serving as a commissioned officer in the United States Army during the late 1960s, rising to the rank of Captain prior to leaving the military. While on active duty, Mr. Stearns served two tours as an instructor with the Army’s Ranger Training Command.
